Nortas

Nortas is a music project created by Lukas Grinys in spring 2018, focusing on melodic minimal electronic music and experiments with ambient sounds. Together with synthetic motifs, it deploys guitar and surrounding sounds. Nortas directs the music down two pathways, one dedicated to melodic dance music, the other to exploring the relationship between himself and his flow of thoughts expressed through experimental ambient sounds. The first path tells us manifold melodic stories by combining live-recorded percussion with minimal techno beat elements, dreamy progressive synthesizers and sounds from his surroundings. In August 2018, Nortas released his debut album In Grey, which jumps back and forth over the genre border between melodic techno and deep house. In late autumn 2018, he took another musical pathway to explore his mindset through darker shades of electronic music. He began to experiment with ambient waveform, drone elements and sounds from the environment, such as field noises or his favourite clock doing its work and released an EP on the Electron Emitter label.
