IN LUMINE

This album takes listeners on a unique musical journey born from the tradition of contemporary music concerts held at St. Casimir's Church in Vilnius. Since 2017, these concerts have been an integral part of the annual international conference “Principles of Music Composing”, encouraging composers to respond creatively to the conference's current themes and explore new approaches to music composition.
A total of eight concerts were held, presenting a rich array of new works written especially for this occasion. This creative initiative encouraged composers to experiment and performers to explore new interpretive possibilities. The pieces featured on the album reflect the most prominent directions of these explorations, including the development of themes of sacredness and the performative quality of music, as well as the exploration of Lithuanian national traits and the pursuit of a contemporary organ sound. This pursuit involves not only the organ itself, but also the use of voices, other instruments, and electronics. The album is a vivid testament to the context of contemporary music, combining theoretical reflection, artistic intuition, and masterful performance.
This compilation album allows listeners to hear the most striking and interesting results of these creative explorations, reveals the fruits of collaboration between composers and performers, and invites listeners to experience how academic thought and artistic practice come together in live music creation.
