Katamorphosis (or better known by its synonym “catagenesis”) is a term for regressive evolution of the species of living organisms, or decomposition of fossil minerals, towards their simpler forms. The gradual change of texture in the course of the piece reflects this decay of the objects of nature. Perhaps these more primitive forms are just fertilisers for the new life forms of today and of the future?
