Scored for string quartet and electronics, the piece may be perceived as the 21st-century electroacoustic raga. Panchami is written in one of the Indian raga modes, with harmonies based on chords and intervals made between the split tones. The entire form is derived from a single combination of numbers, which becomes augmented, contracted and augmented again by revolving in successive coils of harmonic, micro-intervalic and rhythmic lines. Irrespective of such underlying construction, the piece sounds as a natural, meditative flow of sounds rather than a strictly numerical process.
