Enterprise Lithuania and the Lithuanian Music Information Centre's export project Music Lithuania organized a stand presenting Lithuania's music culture in this year's industry exhibition in Cannes, France, on June 5-8. Especially for MIDEM, Music Lithuania released a fresh collection of music, Note Lithuania, composed of 18 outstanding recently recorded pieces ranging across various popular genres: from alternative music, stylish pop electronic and dark cinema scores to neofolk, reggae, independent rock mixtures and experimental pop.

The CD brochure notes that the average age of musicians, performers, composers and producers represented therein approach that of Lithuania's independence. The country's popular music industry is hardly much older. Note Lithuania is therefore an exposition of the first generation of musicians who came of age in an independent country, who have had open access to any type of music and who are ambitious and aspire to conquer stages beyond national borders.

Note Lithuania: pop/rock/electronic includes music composed and/or performed by Golden Parazyth, Leon Somonov & Jazzu, Colours of Bubbles, The Bus, Domas Strupinskas, Kamanių šilelis, GeraiGerai, Markas Palubenka, Alina Orlova, Garbanotas Bosistas, Without Letters, Beissoul & Einius, The Roop, Alice Way, Soul Moustache, KeyMono, Sheep Got Waxed, Ministry of Echology (feat. Eazystyle MC).

The CDs in this promotional series have been released by the Lithuanian Music Information Centre annually since 2005. It currently boasts 20 collections dedicated to popular music, alternative, rock, electronic, jazz, (post)modern folk and world music. The Note Lithuania series is therefore not just a review of latest trends, but also a historic document that can shake our cultural memory at any time.

The Lithuanian Music Information Centre distributes Note Lithuania CDs in various music industry and public cultural diplomacy platforms: fairs, festivals, conferences, representations, embassies, culture attaché offices as well as targeted meetings with media, event organizers, publishers and producers.

The release has been in part funded by Enterprise Lithuania, The Lithuanian Council for Culture and LATGA.
